Chargers Meet With Potential First Round Safety, Second Round Linebacker

A few days ago, we mentioned that the Chargers had met with a couple quarterbacks and a kicker. Yesterday, it was reported by 24/7 Sports that Florida State safety and likely first-round pick Derwin James met with representatives from the Chargers. However, they also noted that he expects to be drafted in the top-10 and it seems unlikely that Tom Telesco will be willing to not only spend a first-round pick on a safety but trade up in the first round for the right to do so.
Reporter Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle also reported via Twitter that the Chargers had made contact with Malik Jefferson: Jefferson, a linebacker out of Texas, is a potential second-round pick who could likely play the SAM role for the Chargers were they to select him in the upcoming NFL Draft.
We will continue to track the players the Chargers meet with as we get closer to the draft.
