Report: Chargers sign QB Tyrod Taylor

It may not be splashy, but Chargers GM Tom Telesco adds depth at another key position. It looks like the Los Angeles Chargers are signing quarterback Tyrod Taylor as the official day of Free Agency begins. Taylor started the 2018 season as the Cleveland Browns starter, but after a shaky start and an injury in week 3, he was replaced by rookie Baker Mayfield. The rest as you know is history. Taylor brings valuable leadership and experience to the Chargers. Tyrod came into the league with Baltimore backing up Joe Flacco for four years. He then spent three years as the Buffalo Bills starter. During that time, he spent two years with current Chargers coach Anthony Lynn, who filled a variety of coaching positions in Buffalo, before coming to Los Angeles. The move should mean the end for Chargers backups Geno Smith or Cardale Jones. It certainly means the Philip Rivers now has his most competent backup since, well, ever! We’ll keep you posted on the terms and conditions as they are released.
