The Central Michigan Chippewas are playing against Wyoming Friday in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. As a way to honor the late, great Dick Enberg, a Central Michigan alumnus, the Chippewas will wear stickers on their helmets that say, “Oh My!” which was of course Enberg’s famous catch phrase.Enberg, a world famous sports broadcaster, was found dead in his home Thursday night after an apparent heart attack. His daughter, Nicole, said the family became concerned when Enberg did not arrive for a scheduled flight to Boston on Thursday.The legendary broadcaster began his career in the 1960s covering the UCLA Bruins, Los Angeles Rams and California Angels for KTLA television. His phenomenal career saw him work for CBS, NBC and ESPN, where he covered Super Bowls, MLB and Wimbledon tennis, among other high-profile events.Enberg became famous for saying “Oh, my!” after big plays. He’ll be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
