ASU football mourns the loss of Jason Franklin

The Arizona State football program is mourning the loss of one of their own. Former linebacker Jason Franklin has died, as it was first announced on social media over the weekend. His mother took to Facebook to announce the tragic passing of her son.
A Simi-Valley, CA native, Franklin was a walk-on player at ASU. He played under Coach Todd Graham from 2011-2015, getting most of his playing time on special teams. In August 2014, Graham surprised Franklin by awarding him a scholarship. Although he only played in one game his senior season, he was awarded the Glen Hawkins Scout Team Defensive MVP award for his outstanding efforts during practice. During his football career, Franklin sustained four concussions. Franklin graduated with a degree in Communication in 2015, and began working with the media shortly before that. He starred in a segment on 12 news, a local station, called “Franklin Knows Best”, and also did some work for local sports radio station NBC 1060 AZ.
