Herm Edwards’ Arizona State Sun Devils lost their Las Vegas Bowl game Saturday to the Fresno State Bulldogs. Just don’t tell Edwards that. The head coach had a funny way of describing the outcome. Right. There has never been, nor perhaps will there ever be, a clearer example of coachspeak. Of course, Edwards excels at this particular art form. Just to clear the air, the Sun Devils absolutely did lose the game. It was over from the moment that Ronnie Rivers torched them with a 68-yard run up the gut in the third quarter. From there, the Bulldogs piled on with another touchdown and then forced the second interception of the game by Sun Devils quarterback Manny Wilkins, who was injured on the play. With the 31-20 loss, the Sun Devils fell to 7-6 on the season, which is exactly the same record they had last year before hiring Edwards.
