Watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish get picked apart by the Clemson Tigers has done very little to silence those who believed that the Georgia Bulldogs deserved a spot in the College Football Playoff. With the Irish down by four touchdowns in the fourth quarter, one Georgia player was unwilling to keep his mouth shut any longer. Defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter tweeted at the College Football Playoff during the blowout, asking them if they’d like to reconsider their team selection. (@LedbetterDE15) December 29, 2018 Plenty of Georgia players are likely thinking or saying the same thing Saturday night, but the fact is Notre Dame’s inclusion in the playoff was never in doubt. They went 12-0 and made a real effort to try to play big teams, beating Michigan in the process. It was Oklahoma that got the last spot ahead of a two-loss Georgia team, and even those arguing for the Bulldogs’ inclusion didn’t seem to be claiming it should be at Notre Dame’s expense.
