The Longhorns have landed their first defensive pledge in the form of Tyler John Tyler star Kitan Crawford. Tyler John Tyler athlete Kitan Crawford arrived in Austin this weekend for his official visit and he will be returning home as a member of Tom Herman’s 2020 class, as the four-star talent has committed to the Texas Longhorns, according to John Tyler’s football Twitter account. Crawford’s pledge comes just weeks after he re-released his top three schools, as Tennessee and Oklahoma were also finalists. The Longhorns were, of course, among Crawford’s initial top three list in early April, which then featured Baylor instead of Oklahoma. Though Tennessee, and more specifically, Oklahoma did emerge as factors, the Longhorns were long considered the team to beat. Just days after adding his Texas offer on Feb. 13, Crawford unofficially visited Austin for Junior Day, and returned the following month on March 15. A two-way talent, Crawford totaled 30 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and two interceptions as a junior.
