    Tate Martell misses practice after losing Miami starting quarterback battle

    Miami’s starting quarterback competition did not go Tate Martell’s way, and the Ohio State transfer apparently took the news hard. Martell did not attend the Hurricanes’ practice on Monday, the school confirmed to Inside the U, which first reported the news. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported that Martell was expected to attend a team meeting later in the evening. It’s unclear whether Martell attended the meeting. Martell transferred from Ohio State to Miami and was granted a waiver to play immediately. He likely expected to become the starter, but that did not happen as Jarren Williams won the starting gig. Martell has developed a habit of bouncing around. The former five-star recruit switched his college commitment three times, starting with Washington then going to Texas A&M and eventually settling on Ohio State.
