Chase Young says NCAA issue is over loan he accepted from family friend

Chase Young is not going to play on Saturday against Maryland because of an eligibility issue that the NCAA is looking into, and the Ohio State star has provided some more detail about the situation. In a statement he posted on Twitter, Young revealed that he made a “mistake” by accepting a loan from a family friend last year. He said he has repaid the loan in full and is working with the NCAA to get the situation resolved. Young said he met the friend the summer before he enrolled at Ohio State, which obviously raises flags for the NCAA. Young has been the best defensive player in college football by a wide margin this season, and he was even mentioned in the Heisman Trophy conversation after his remarkable performance against Wisconsin. The junior defensive end has been an unstoppable force all season, with 13.5 sacks and five forced fumbles in eight games. He is considered a consensus top-five pick in the NFL Draft next year and could go as high as No. 1. Ohio State should have no problem handling Marylan
