Report: Tua Tagovailoa injury could cost him big ahead of 2020 NFL Draft

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered what appeared to be a significant hip injury on Saturday, and it’s one that could be costly at the next level. Looking ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft, Albert Breer of The MMQB reported that “durability has been a big concern of NFL teams with him,” noting that Tagovailoa’s injury “could cost him in a pretty significant way.” Going back to even before the current season began, Tagovailoa has been mentioned as a potential No. 1 overall pick. His talent is undeniable. Yet the injuries he has dealt with since the ankle injury he suffered last year are certainly alarming. Tagovailoa is not a big guy. He is listed at 6-foot-1 and 218 pounds, and we’ve seen quarterbacks that size do very well at the NFL level. But given his proclivity for getting outside the pocket, and taking into account the injuries he’s suffered while doing so, it’s hardly surprising that durability is a concern NFL teams have.
