just a note in hindsight as shared w/a Packers friend that Emil Ekiyor's pre draft reports remind me some of when Elgton Jenkins came out, and he responded w/some tidbits of intrigue.

said that, Ekiyor could be a good mid round Packer lineman kind of steal, and that his plus traits fit what their coach covets, and w/the thought that if a team can coach him up to eliminate his issues, that he'll be a stud, further commenting that they could use another OL.

he also mentioned that he thought they scored in the 4th round last year with Wake Forest undersized OL Zach Tom, sayin' he'll be a stud with some nfl strength training. went on to opine that he saved their OL this year backing up at G, LT and RT and that he did a good job for them. he also mentioned it as a plus that he played center in college, adding that's the definition of an E. Jenkins player.

(am given to the thought that that's what Salyer could be for us, 'specially if we set him up to learn the center position next off season ?)

he also volunteered that they gained 2 massive yet mobile OTs from last year's 7th round (Walker - Penn State) & UDFA (Caleb Jones - IND - 6'9" 370lb), saying that they had to keep them on the roster this season so they wouldn't get poached.

he added (post mortem that Pack 3rd round OT from last year, from UCLA (Rhyan), bombed out, insinuating that he may be a steroid guy ?? ....as he got suspended by the commissioner.

main reason am sharing is that wasn't so high on Jenkins the year he came out, and as reports were mixed on him, and.... there are dissenting opinions on Ekiyor as well, this draft season.

have also had the thought given that the both of the ballyhooed Oregon Ducks, Herbert and Penei, were both of mixed reviews, wondering how Noah Sewell might actually pan out @LB in the NFL ?? and like the aforementioned, it's gonna take the ever so shrewd Powder Blue draftniks to see thru the haze, and to separate the wheat from the chaff, discerning who will pan out in the NFL, and who is just too risky to invest draft capital therein.... good luck Chargers die hard faithfuls.
