We need more "bad bad dudes" like Foley. I'm all for trading Mantit Teo and adding a bad dude to pair with Perryman.

Thing is we're pretty set at inside backer. And if he's not a Keuchley, who was taken at like pick 10 or so, and we're taking Jack at 3, that seems like not a great value, especially given we have 2 young ascending guys already playing his position. How about we take a Bosa/Buckner/Tunsil at 3, and try to get Scoobie Wright early in the 3rd, since we're really just trying to get some depth at inside backer.

We ain't picking a Center at #3...one should be there in the second round and if we trade out of #3 we will be picking up another 2nd. If there isn't one we want at either pick in 2nd there are a couple of FA's that will be available in post draft free agency. It is Watt it is.

Is there a bigger reason besides center and guard that we were 4-12 last season?

I think Jack is a guy that you can use every week in a way that matches him up perfectly with an opponents strength. Slot one week. Take out a TE the next week. Just a Jack of all trades player that can eliminate a teams bigger threat. He can cover these stud TEs we face. Maybe cover slot WRs. Spy a RB etc. Every week a defense will have a weakness and he can help cover that weakness. But you dont take a player at 3 without knowing where he fits in your base defense. Unless he is used at MLB. Or SS. You take a player at 3 knowing where he is going to fit right away. I dont think hes close to being Luke Kuechly at MLB. But hes more versatile. So he sort of confuses me as to where he fits in our base D. If we are running more of a 43 under/over base then he can play MIKE like Wagner in Seattle. Only hes not as good at shedding blocks yet.

The thing with Jack is that he could end up being a Wagner type....a Chancellor type on any given week with his versatility.

I hear you and I pretty much agree. It might be hard for a lot of people to remember, but back in the day when he was coming out Urlacher was a guy that was a bit of a head-scratcher too. He was an ILB, he was a S, maybe a 4-3 OLB. Now of course, he turned out to be a great player and Jack is more potential than production at this point. So at 3, he's a stretch for me. If we decide to move out...he's worth a 6-7-8 pick in my estimation.
