MHjr is as a "sure thing" as there is in any draft.
He will either be open or drawing double/tripple coverage on every snap.
With a combo of Herbo and Harrison and today's offense-happy rules, we will have a chance to overcome any deficit and win any game however little the odds.

can anyone remember any recent games that looked bleak by the end of the first quarter?

You’re right it’s not realistic for the first year, but it can make you more competitive within the team and more opportunities to hit on draft picks.

I know at least 2 of the big contracts will be gone by either trade or release. With a new regime coming in, I would not be completely surprised if all 4 of Allen, Bosa, Mack and MW are gone. Along with Kendricks and possibly SJD. I know that’s a lot of holes to fill, but with all those contracts gone, there will be a lot of dead cap, but there will also be money to spend in free agency and extra draft picks.

The biggest problem I have with OL rebuilding program is that it is a few years too late. We probably need to add a new C (assuming Linsley is forced to retire) and let Salyer and Pipkins fight it out at RT, so we might need help at RG but I wouldn't necessarily gut the whole line for new players yet.

They'll get rid of SJD and Johnson if they can get out of them ...... DT scheme fits for Staley.

They have a pair of young players there and can easily get vets that are well cheaper.

Draft 2 and sign 2...problem solved. This is not like we are starting from scratch but you do need 7 potential starters and 2 back-ups.

Not sure where the Steelers and Tomlin are going to be by the end of the year. I would reach out to the Steelers in the offseason and see if you could pry George Pickens from them without giving up too much.

I am amenable to this sort of thinking, Bilg. For once , someone around here is grounded in reality.

Someone with cap room will bite on KA/Khalil, especially a team they like that is willing to extend them.

We will need a favor or two, and will have to accept diminished value on Bosa/MW.

The bottom line is that getting cheaper and younger at WR/EDGE is bitter medicine we must consume.
                  We play modern Harball.

Not so sure about Allen. I could see the rest gone. Our two LBs are FAs. Ekeler is a FA. Stick is a FA, Everett is a FA and there are a few more.

In as far as the draft goes if I were the GM and one of Harrison or Bowers are available I do not trade down. These are impact players at skill positions. Every draft is different.
In some drafts you can find starters in the later rounds other times there are slim picks beyond round 2. You have to be careful and luck out.

Belichick would trade down on a regular basis to get more picks and hope to land a golden egg. It worked one yea when he got Gronk and Hernandez.
The rest of the time his picks were goose eggs. He often filled in his roster with FAs. But that was a time when he had Brady and they were winning
championships. His strategy has failed and to be honest they would have won even more championships if he just had stayed the course and picked
up draft picks in rounds 1-3.

So not saying the strategy of trading down won't work, but realize it is a gamble. If it were not every team would be doing it every year and who would be
on the other side of the trade and why?

Love Pickens and would love to have him. But hearing maturity issues.

Harbaugh could handle that. Telesco wouldn't trade for him not sure about John boy in that regard. Hopefully a new GM isn't such a choir boy

Just saw a couple plays from today's game Pittsburgh vs Colts. Pickens was highlighted as a no effort on a couple plays and boy.....

Just wow. No effort at all. Maybe Harbaugh can't fix him but that guy won't get a nice 2nd contract playing like that.

                          1) ED Laiatu Latu, DT Jer’Zhan Newton, DE JT Tuimoloau, ED Bralen Trice, ED Jared Verse * not lookin’ RT nor CB, and not WR neither
                          2) NT T’Vondre Sweat * free up our LBs and give our EDs some operating room
                          2) OC Sedrick Van Pran * gotta move Bosa and take a need pick here
                          3) OG Cooper Beebe * albeit we prolly go RB w/Braelon, Benson or Corum
                          3) LB Cedric Gray * if we only have one pick in the third, this is my must get
                          4) RB Audric Estime, OG Donovan Jackson * ironic twist bringing in a Golden Domer post TT
                          5) RB Daijun Edwards * gotta bring in @least a coupla few RBs…. one ain’t gonna do
                          6) QB Joe Milton III * beleaguered prospect that could go undrafted
                          7) WR Bru McCoy * rather get WR5 in house rather than take our chances w/one as an UDFA
                          7) RB Blake Watson * psychologically we need someone to spell Ek, and not wait ‘til round 8
                          7) LB Eric Gentry * Mr. Irrelevant ??

                          8) RB Ulysses Bentley IV, OC Eli Cox, RB Miyan Williams * LB Cody Simon and RB Keilan Robinson prolly deserve a mention as well

this is w/getting two day two picks for Bosa 'n MW, and getting a day three for SJD, and.... have seen us being awarded a Mr. Irrelevant pick @the end of the seventh on more than one site ??

going Dline back 2 back to start things off, a need pick @the OC (even if he backs up a shiny new FA there), an OG & RB, and w/an LB sandwiched in there + another coupla few RBs, including an Ek replacement of sorts, a QB2, a WR5, and another LB.... eleven picks if we can swing it.
ED Matayo Uiagalelei, DT Dontay Corleone, OC Iapani Laloulu, CB Domani Jackson, OG Earnest Greene III, WR J Michael Sturdivant, LB Eric Gentry
TE Jelani Woods, LB Isaiah Simmons, TE Cade Otton, RB Kyren Williams, P Matt Araiza
