And there’s always the Zion to C option if we miss out on the top starting centers in the draft. There do appear to be good OG options through the early 3rd round.
Hardwick is going to be spending a lot of time with Zion or the Center to be . Not that Devlin won't be involved but I can see the new Center getting a lot of time with Hardwick

There's probably going to be an extra 3rd we get for Drue Tranquill and if we trade down a few picks on top of that we could be in great shape to get a top center with our second round pick, and have extra picks in the top 3 rounds for other needs! I really hope we land a top RB and a DB with those high picks we could obtain in a trade! Also in the 4th round a WR like Brenden Rice or Luke McCaffrey!

Brady won four of them without Gronk, including the comeback victory over Atlanta--when Gronk was out of the playoffs completely after undergoing back surgery. Travis Kelce wasn't helping Mahomes very much during the Super Bowl loss against the Bucs, when Mahomes was running for his life. Or do you attribute that blowout victory to the Bucs having Rob Gronkowski in the battle of tight ends?

Getting a stud tight end is not the highest priority to winning a Super Bowl. We're not doomed if we don't take Bowers in the first and choose to get a tight end later. Some of you have become so infatuated with the position because of Travis Kelce, and perhaps because the four teams in this year's conference championship games had very good-to-great tight ends. Meanwhile, one of them, the Ravens, went 6-1 without their stud tight end (Mark Andrews) in the seven games leading up to the AFC Championship Game--and their one loss came when Lamar Jackson sat out. Another team, the 49ers, won their NFC Championship game when George Kittle caught two passes for 27 yards.

You don't think right tackle is a need? Have you been paying attention to our offensive line for the last 15 years, beginning when Jeromey Clary took over that spot?
Seriously? You don't need a stud RB, WR, ROT, C, OG to win a SB. In fact you don't even need a stud QB to win a SB. What kind of argument is that? It takes a team. ROT
is not a need since we have our starter back. Do we need an upgrade there? Absolutely. But facts are we don't have a starting C. Everett is a FA, so we lost our starting TE.
We don't have enough talent at CB, RB. Even LB, DT, Edge need help if we lose Mack/Bosa or both. Those are the primary needs. So we definitely can use upgrades at many
other positions. And by the way our OGs were not exactly great either. So maybe we need a whole new roster?

We're not doomed if we don't get a ROT either. So really I don't see your point. We are going to draft the best player at position of need. If Harbaugh and Co. think ROT is
        it, then so be it.

I think Nabors is one of those high strung WR's that will get more than his fair share of penalties. Is anyone else bothered by that?

Didn't our new GM just say at the press conference he's going to draft the best players on the board regardless of need when our picks are up and that's his philosophy?!

Dru is going to get a comp pick in the 7th round - not the 3rd round
as of today, its like pick 255 - close to Mr Irrevelant status
lucky to even get a comp pick for Tranq --

                Round 1: Alt

                Round 3: Davis

He is in my round 3 DT cluster. Hope we have 2 round 3 picks.

Always that fine line of BPA and Need - but with the Chargers - they have so many needs and wants, I think Hortiz can probably get both done - unless it just total coincidence that every time the chargers pick comes up, its WR or one position

Thats why I kind of don't get the idea of clusters. Just have your board and rank them and if you are picking in R3 and you have a guy with a grade so much higher than the next player on your board, you take the talent.

At the same time - you do have to fill in your roster so there is that line again of BPA/need

Wasn't Dru one of the leading tacklers on D and they won a Superbowl??! The league has given other teams 3rd picks for players lost, we may not get a 3rd but based on Dru's stats shouldn't we?!

So do you believe if MHJ is on the board @ 5 our GM would pass?

What they say and what they do are sometimes very different. We hear this all the time. Then somebody pays a ransom for a QB from a small school that's only played the
position for one year. That's need for a very important position. So in my experience there's much more to it than just taking the best player regardless.

However for the Chargers we actually have needs at several positions and can use upgrades just about everywhere. So taking the best player available is certainly an option. We
also draft #5. So makes a lot of sense to get the very best you can. Blue chip players are rare in every draft. Some years top 20 can have blue chip players. Other years not even
                        top 10.

Its based on AAV first and foremost followed by playing time

DRU's AAV barely made the cut of getting a comp pick.
