Pipkin's strength is run blocking and in Roman's system he'll have a lot more help in pass pro than we've seen in the previous offenses which asked the OTs to play on an island for most of the game...plus an improved run scheme will take even more pressure off of the O-line...I know you don't like Trey and they might draft someone to groom for a year to replace him in 2025, but I think he's still starting in 2024 and I feel fairly comfortable predicting that everyone on that line (including Trey) will have a better 2024 than they did in 2023...
they will get a center either in FA or in the draft and improve the depth at OT this offseason, BUT I still think the defense is where the biggest rebuild will happen...Protect the QB
Run the ball
Play great defense

Over the next two months we are going to need to embrace the possibility of drafting Jackson Powers-Johnson @ #5.
There is controlled power, remindful of Creed.
JCP is a tone setter and leader of the highest order. This brings everything together for our team.We play modern Harball.

Mahomes SB wins he had better OL play. Didn't even have Hill the most explosive WR in the game. Draft the Ferrari when you have pot holes and crack in the foundation isn't a good way to start the plan. Invest in OL. It helps the entire team. All three phases are helped by OL play. Both Offense and Special team can be more successful and Defense can rest more. And it protects you #1 asset. The franchise QB.
Joe Alt at #5 or trade back for more picks.
And still draft OL with Rd 1.
This is perfectly relevant in the context of the Chargers in the 2024 Draft.
We can draft a truly elite Chase-level weapon in Nabers, Bowers or Odunze. Or we can blast our IOL with JPJ.
JPJ @ #5 is clearly an overdraft, but it would ignite Zion, Jamaree and Trey, fixing our entire OL with one player. Fellow former wrestler Nick Hardwick would fine tune JPJ.
Herbert's biggest problems are IDL pressure and lack of running attack. I will argue until blue in the face that Mahomes can only be beaten by clock management at the end of games. Think outside the box instead of trying to outscore KC or play winning defense.
I will argue that JPJ is a unique prospect, in his play, and in his impact as a Charger. I am seeing mocks where the Bears take JPJ @ #9.
Several teams, for all the personnel they have accrued, will not get a Lombardi in this decade.
SF.
CIN.
BUF.
DET.
DAL.

Do the Chargers want to keep saying "almost, almost" ????We play modern Harball.

I agree JPJ/? Is the biggest need on OL, not an upgrade at RT. Sure RT can be upgraded but why is Pipkins the punching bag on this forum - he wasn’t the worst OL player last year. He wasn’t 2nd worst. and he wasnt 3rd worst. WTF is everyone’s problem with Pipkins - Salyer and Zion BOTH played worse and don’t start me in Clapp.“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

I think we’re looking wayyyyyyy too much into this.
Why not get a guy right under our nose University Michigan Center Drake Nunget Harbaugh knows him. I told you those elephants were great. All they did was run the ball and destroy Alabama.
We can get him in the 3rd round. Look at the film. Sign Brian Allen and then draft this guy.
All I know is Michigan was effective. All they did was run the ball and did it in the national championship where thier Quarterback didn’t throw the ball.
