So still pointing to Pipkins as the cultrit while Clapp, Zion , and Slayer sucked worse? Then we had to play Jaimes. We have 5 OL, 3 playing below average. One played well and one above average. The three sucking the worst wasn't Pipkins. I get we can use better talent but fix the middle, get a better blocking TE and the OL is better.
    1. Mason Taylor TE LSU
    2. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio st
    3. Kyle Kennard Edge So. Carolina

    4. CJ West DT Indiana
    5. Don'te Thornton WR Tennessee
    6. Zah Frazier CB UTSA
    6. Jarquez Hunter RB Auburn

Both Salyer and Zion have played two different positions since being drafted 2 years ago. Saying they sucked doesn't absolve Pipkins... he's had much longer to develop. If both Zion and Salyer still suck after 5 years... I won't be making excuses for them. I'd be moving on from them.

Can the OL be fixed in FA. This would definitely allow the focus on a skilled position

And I'm not arguing against getting a good center. We absolutely need that. A good blocking TE...? Sure we could use that too. But there are number of good blocking TE's... you could get later in the draft or in free agency.

Sure... it depends on how much you want to spend... and how much cap space we end up with after cuts and trades.
Kevin Zeitler is a free agent now... although he's up there in age.

Connor Williams was great at center... but he's coming off an injury and could cost $10+m.

Zion was back at LG where he played in college. Not like it was different for him. That's no excuse. If anything,he should of felt at home.
Salyer, idk maybe he thrives as a OT better. Don't know what happened to him but he wasn't good.
McFadden will get a chance to win a job too. Slater said good things about him. We can draft or sign a OC and draft Beebe or whoever.
Some better coaching, better blockingTEs, and that's a better OL. If they can get a RT as well great. Still need to fix the middle more as it was abismal.

Need picks and will we maybe see a couple 1 year deals on OL that get cut or are cap casualtys. Telesco left the depth very bare. We'll see how the draft and FAcy goes.

I love Sinnot. I’d “overdraft” him in Rd3 and never look back. He’s a beast in blocking both inline and pulling or in motion… but no, he’s not a better deep threat.

Yes, and need to fix the IDL more too. Look at the roster, its barren.

OT's are hard to find in free agency... which is why TT overpaid Pipkins.

If you trade back (picking up extra picks) and draft Fuaga (or Mims) with the #10 or #11... then take a center in the 2nd... then use a later round pick on TE (maybe AJ Barner)... you'd be running all over people.

And with the extra picks... you could pick up a quality IDL and or LB to help your defense.
Believing that Harbaugh will fix all of the current players is not realistic.
When he walked into the 49ers job... there were a lot of good young players there.
Staley (28th pick), Iupati (17th pick), Davis (11th pick).

People pretend that Harbaugh walks in and changes a team immediately. But he went 9-15 his first years @Stanford.
The recruiting of Andrew Luck is what turned things around there.
He inherited a very talented (although poorly coached) 49ers roster.
He recruited well at Michigan... which is why there will be 12+ players on this year's squad that will end up in the NFL.
Did he coach them up...? Sure did. But no one can deny that he's also had good talent to work with.

So let's go get some talent...
We have the GM, we have the coach... but let's not pretend that all the current players have top-shelf talent.

Yeah, I know... I watched him a lot in college. I think he'll improve based on what I saw. None of this does anything to convince me that Sioux Falls readied Pipkins for the NFL. I haven't seen anything since his drafting that makes me believe he can handle the NFL.
