Dotson ran one to the house too. Topcat still holds a guest room open in his house for The Dot and places fresh cut flowers every 3 days on the hope he'll stop by.1. Mason Taylor TE LSU

And using that extra second to make another trade in ROund 2 -- or using the Chargers pick at 37 to trade back
So not necessarily a double trade down in R1 as I still want the top 10ish pick - but just a second trade for another pick

The reason for no more trade backs is that we need quality starters. Trading our 2nd rounder down doesn't make sense for
a team that needs so much. You do that when the team is loaded. You get a bunch of 4th, 5th, 6th rounders and hope
you land a diamond in the rough.
Besides FA starts next week, then the new season a week after that. We have several players like Mack that we can trade
to get extra picks. No need to give up quality draft guys if we don't have to. In fact if we do trade some players for draft pick
we may just stay at #5 and get a blue chipper.

Tyreek Hill wasn't on the Chiefs' roster until 2016. Reid's first-round picks prior to Tyreek's arrival in 2016 were offensive tackle, pass-rusher, cornerback, and then he didn't have a first-round pick in 2016 but used his first selection in the second round on defensive tackle Chris Jones.
In Philadelphia, after drafting Donovan McNabb in the first round in 1999, Reid's first-round picks went like this:
2000: Defensive tackle
2001: Wide receiver
2002: Cornerback
2003: Defensive end
2004: Offensive guard/tackle
2005: Defensive tackle
2006: Defensive tackle
2007: No first-round pick. First pick in second round was a quarterback.
2008: No first-round pick. First pick in second round was a defensive tackle
2009: Wide receiver
2010: Defensive end
2011: Offensive guard
2012: Defensive tackle
Fourteen years in Philly for Reid. Eight of his first-round picks were on linemen. Eleven years so far in Kansas City. Four first-round picks on linemen. Two more picks traded for an offensive tackle (Orlando Brown) and a pass-rusher (Frank Clark). Twenty-five years as a head coach for Reid. Fourteen of his first-round picks have been dedicated to linemen. Seven of the picks on linemen were in the top 15, most notably Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox. The only times he's used top-15 picks on players who aren't/weren't linemen happened when he took quarterbacks--Donovan McNabb and Patrick Mahomes.
This is not a coincidence. After Reid has his quarterback, he focuses on building up both sides of the line as the next priority. Belichick was the same way in New England. I imagine Harbaugh and Hortiz will be the same way. Unless Marvin Harrison is there, I don't think we're taking a wide receiver in the first round. I think we're doing everything we can to trade down and take the best offensive lineman or pass-rusher available.Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

My preference is to trade back to Atlanta at 8 -- get that extra 2nd

Fix 4 of them this offseason and the rest next season. After one season, all returning players will have the schemes down pat.
Seriously, agree with you - mimic the Lions 2022 and 2023 drafts.

rounder would most likely net a 3rd rounder plus some other lower round picks. After round 3 things get cloudy. Sure you can find some good quality
players or maybe not. I like those 2 second rounders as a much better option to land starters, which we need.

Harbaugh and some of his staff watched these guys in the draft play in person, on film, or even recruited, or tried to recruit these players. They have an advantage over most if not all teams in regards of the draft. Why not take advantage over it now? They will not have another chance like this again.
Also, Harbaugh has a way of getting the most out of his players. I'm not too worried about the players they draft in the later rounds.Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

Chargers pick at 8
chargers pick at 37
trade down the extra 2nd to get a lower 2nd and a 3rd
pick their own 3rd
pick the extra third
their own 4
So six picks in like the top 110 picks
thats kind of my ideal scenario
