Joe Alt is a premiere athlete and I don't want him. I'd much rather have a trade down and to draft an actual right tackle like Fuaga or Latham. Having left tackles switch to right and vice versa can work but it isn't a sure science. Give me the guy who plays the position already and takes less draft capital to acquire.

Walter Paytons Son didnt fare well. George Atkinson Son didnt fare well. Jealyn Reagor is a bust whose father was a DT, Winslows kid was a rapist, Moss kid didnt fare well, Chris Simms was meh, Rob Carpenters kid didnt fare very well....i mean there are many examples of Father/Sons in the league and its a very long list in Wikipedia. Some have been great and some havent.
Some of these guys that will be good NFL players will be generation #1 for their future kids.
I think it's a somewhat different thing when the progeny has played well enough in college to be considered, hands down, a Top 10 pick.
Parenthetically, I don't believe that Winslow, Jr.'s NFL failure had anything to do with talent. The guy was a walking, talking character issue/substance abuse problem.

Based on that, might see the Chargers use free agency for IDL - as like Center - they might want a stop gap to be sure and than address in draft.

Let’s win one for Mack.

Some thoughts.....
Many fans and others seem to prefer having a great WR over a great TE..... I can understand this from a big play point of view and from FF view......
There are some great WR's in this draft with alot of depth and maybe the best WR prospect in history ....
There is a TE prospect who many are calling the best TE prospect in history.....
If Chargers extend KA, we will have 3 very good to great receivers on roster.....
Chargers currently hacve zero great TE's on roster.....
Lets think about difference between great WR's and great TE's:- Great WR's are usually faster but smaller....
- Great WR's can be covered and taken away by a great CB....
- Great WR's require more time to get open forcing QB to hold ball longer....
- Great WR's are usually more explosive...and scare defenses.....
- Great TE's are bigger and break more tackles
- GreatTE's are better blockers
- GreatTE's add toughness to your offense.....and wear out defenses...
- GreatTE's are better targets in red zone....
- GreatTE's gert open quicker and are a QB's best friend by being an easy outlet when under pressure...
- Great TE's help both the passing game and running game....
- Great TE's like Bowers is too big for DB's to cover him and far too fast for a LBer to cover him........he is also faster than many DB's...... making him a matchup nightmare.....
- Great TE's cost less for salary cap over their career compared to WR's......MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK!
Look at the NE dynasty and the KC dynasty?: Both franchises have won multiple SB's with great QB's, and great TE's, but average WR's at best.....
Chargers best offenses had Winslow or Gates........
Best 4 teams in NFL last year all had elite TE's ......
The best defenses in NFL this season, SF and BALT could shut down WR's but could not shut down Kelsey........ so they LOST.....to chiefs.....

We have a developing WR in Palmer. He's good but not great. QJ, we don't yet have a clear picture of what he may or may not be.
Both a great receiver and TE would do wonders for this offense. Unfortunately we need a lot more than just a WR or TE. That's exactly why
all the talk about trading down.

You know the only reason why RT’s don’t play LT? Because there’s someone better already playing LT.
