If I were to put together a cluster for @ #5 it would be big.

Note that Jeremiah says Fuaga could play OLT. but apparently there is reticence to put Alt at ORT. We'll see what teams big boards look like.

Dallas Turner is right behind Alt, rated at #11. I would consider him seriously @ #5 or on a trade down. Fautanu and Quinyon look intriguing too.

Ducks and the Draft

WR Troy Franklin, if the Chargers trade down they could get Franklin at the bottom of the 1st round or the top of the 2nd. He was Bo Nix's top target in 2023, almost 1,400 yds receiving, 14 TD catches, 17.1 yd average. Speed - ran a 4.41 40. 6-2, but rail skinny at 167 lbs. PFF ranks him as the 7th best WR in a deep class.

Speaking of Nix, Sean Peyton is said to covet him and draft him at No. 12 if he's on the board. Would be interesting if both the Broncos and Chargers are QB'd by Oregon standouts.

Patrick Herbert is Justin's younger brother, a 6-5 TE for the Ducks, returning for his senior season but will be in the 2025 draft. He hasn't done much in two years, but he did score 3 TDs last season. If he has a breakout senior season, might be worth taking a look at in next year's draft. He looks like Justin with a mustache.

IF the Cards trade down from #4 for a team that wants JJ it would be a bonus to the Chargers. They could draft the best non-Q in the draft.
HOWEVER, you must trade down. MHJ, D.Turner, OL will be hot at this point. Trade down and you can still get a WR, OL or a CB or Dallas T.

Sorry but we don't have to trade down. If we get some draft capital by trading Mack or Bosa there may not be any reason to trade down.
The idea of a trade down is to gain more draft picks. If we can do that by not trading down why not take the best available @ 5?

Actually, everybody really, really, really, really like Joe Alt. Most mocks have him going before Nabers, Odunze, or Bowers. It's just common sense.

Actually, everybody really, really, really, really like Joe Alt. Most mocks have him going before Nabers, Odunze, or Bowers. It's just common sense.

I've checked SI, Zierlein, Walter, USA, ESPN, PFF NONE have Alt going before Nabors. So which ones are you talking about?

It actually looks like Alt has dropped down in favor of other O line guys. Haven't seen a mock yet that has him going top 10.

Actually today I saw a mock draft with the Bears taking Alt at #1 with the idea they are not trading Fields and giving him the top rated protecter! I've also seen many mocks with the Chargers taking Alt @5 based on Harbaugh's philosophy on O!
