For Everyone who thinks BEEF is always the answer. Drafting linemen is just as big a risk as other positions. A lot get over looked because of the lack of stats for the interior d line(not usually sack guys and tackle leaders) and especially offensive linemen.

Here is a look at o-linemen hit/miss. EVERY position is a crapshoot.

Since the 1999 NFL Draft, there have been 38 tackles – both left and right – selected from picks 1-16. Of those picks, 16 players have been named to a Pro Bowl team and one, Jack Conklin, who the Tennessee Titans selected in 2016, was named a first team All-Pro as a rookie.

If you add Conklin to the 16 players that have been named to Pro Bowls, that makes for a success rate of 44.7% – considering how big of a crapshoot the draft actually is, that shouldn’t be a huge surprise; but a less than 50% success rate in the first half of the first round is less than ideal.

Chris Samuels (2000), Jordan Gross (2003), Jammal Brown (2005), D’Brickashaw Ferguson (2006), Joe Thomas (2007), Jake Long, Branden Albert, Ryan Clady (2008), Trent Williams, Russell Okung (2010), Tyron Smith (2011), Lane Johnson (2013), Taylor Lewan (2014), and Brandon Scherff (2015) have all been named to multiple Pro Bowls; Long’s career, while good at first, ended because of major knee surgeries after the 2016 season – he had only played 10 games the previous three seasons combined.

On the flip side, it’s fair to call picks such as Kenyatta Walker (2001), Mike Williams (2002), Robert Gallery (2004), Levi Brown (2007) and Ereck Flowers (2015) draft busts, even though many considered them to be among the best players of their respective drafts.

If MH2 is off the board...the chargers move down to the 8th, 10th, or 11th pick with an additional 2nd rounder and possible another 3rd...

I doubt he gets past Arizona at 4 unless he is gone in which they go OT most likely

At this point - the price to go from 5 to 8 if the Falcons want a QB would be a 2/4 or maybe a 3/4 this year and a future pick in 2025, another 3rd

I go with history and say Bowers isn’t selected early. I see him going in the 10-14 range. And I am seeing him in mocks going as late as 18 now.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            Let’s win one for Mack.

I’m all for getting a playmaking wr at 5, MHJr or Nabors.

If not, trade down a few spots for Bowers, Odunze, an OT or an Edge. A lot of solid choices are available in the 10-12 range or earlier.

If the WRs are close and you can add a couple picks -- not opposed to going from 5 to 8 - still might get Bowers and have the draft capital to get a WR with your extra picks

Chargers just need Penix or McCarthy or Nix to get intriguing. Daniels, Maye and Williams are locks to be in the top 5 I think come April

Maybe they get more if they push the pick back to 2025 and see how each plays in 2024. And if they just get pick swaps - I am fine with it. If they get more, all the better. Like you said, the Chargers don't have leverage. Like the Broncos with Wilson - Broncos fans think teams will trade for him though he has 37m guaranteed coming due. Bosa and Williams actually have ZERO guaranteed money and they probably still don't ahve value.

The player with value is Khalil Mack - a team like Detroit could be a prime trade candidate as they need to upgrade that defense a bit now. Day 2 pick for Mack.
Nice prediction. I’d love a day 2 pick for Mack. Or any pick for Mack. Because of the salary cap, I don’t see how it is possible to keep him. Detroit is a great location for him. And if we cut him, he could sign anywhere he wants, including Detroit. Because he can sign anywhere, I just don’t see a team giving up much for him because he can probably be signed for free as a free agent. And nobody is paying his current contract salary either

And what happens if Nabors blows up at the combine. I wouldn’t rule it out. His trade value would go through the roof.

He’s probably out there training to run the 40 right now.
                    • Explosive route-runner with an ability to seamlessly shift gears, making him a huge match-up for defensive backs
                    • Elite athletic skills -- Made Bruce Feldman's 2023 'Freaks List' at number 33. He wrote: "The 6-0, 201-pound junior measured at 1.01 RSImod — reactive strength index modified. This essentially describes Nabers’ ability to complete his max vertical jump at a very fast rate, so along with having a vertical leap of almost 40 inches, he can reach that feat faster than anyone on the team. Nabers also produced 2700 watts peak power on power clean, which is remarkable for a skill player."
                    • Has exceptional ball skills, tracks mid-stride adjustments effectively, showcasing potential as a reliable deep threat in the NFL.
                    • Combines awareness and precise timing when playing the ball in the air, especially on underthrown passes.
                    • Physical receiver possessing a versatile skill set; effective both outside and in the slot with an understanding of zone coverages.
                    • Comfortable and skilled in contested situations, consistently turning 50/50 balls into receptions, both vertically and on comebacks.
                    • Potent run-after-catch capabilities, blending quickness with a strong lower half, making him elusive and difficult for solo tackles - has a little Deebo Samuel element to his game
                    • Exceptional leaping ability, consistently high-pointing the ball away from his frame, especially on vertical shots and back-shoulder throws.

                      We have to take speed....

I don't think people understand how much fear a combination of Hebert's arm and REAL speed will put in defenses.

There was a team in recent history that did this......I mean all you're doing is increasing your chances on getting "hits".
