If Denver doesn't sign a vet QB then they will be trading up for one or if they don't trade up, will draft one @ 12. They may end up with Nix it McCarthy tho. Penix probably falls to round 2. Some think he will fall further.

penix has injury and durability concerns otherwise he might have the best combination of release, accuracy, and arm strength in the whole class and that's saying something in this class, it's a hell of a QB class!Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

I think Denver drafts McCarthy if they aren't able to trade up high enough to get one of the top 3 guys...I think it's crazy that McCarthy is considered the 4th or 5th best QB in this class, there are a lot of classes where he might've been the first QB off the board, like the year that Pickett came out..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. know you're a good eval guy, and a bit surprising to read your opinion, as there are pundits out there who claim that the only thing McCarthy has in common w/Brady, is that he is a sixth round talent ?? !!Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View PostI think Denver drafts McCarthy if they aren't able to trade up high enough to get one of the top 3 guys...I think it's crazy that McCarthy is considered the 4th or 5th best QB in this class, there are a lot of classes where he might've been the first QB off the board, like the year that Pickett came out...
which is it ?? and can't see Payton drafting McCarthy.... Nix has some very, very good stats to build off of, and.... think he's more a Denver/Sean Payton guy ??DT Peter Woods, LB CJ Allen, OC Iapani Laloulu, NT Dontay Corleone, ED Matayo Uiagalelei, LT Trey Zuhn, TE Justin Joly, LB Eric Gentry

I'm sorry, I don't read a lot of pundit stuff, I just go off of what I see during games...Mccarthy has the potential to be a franchise QB IMO, but just like most of these kids much depends on where they land, who's there to coach them, and what they have around them...I like the way he is in the pocket, I like the way he can make defenders miss in small areas, that quick twitch niftiness that some guys have, and he also has athleticism, then there is the off platform stuff which I think he does well, his power and accuracy on those throws is up there IMO, I like how he throws short timing stuff which is huge in the NFL, he has that type of touch on those shorter passes that makes it easier for backs and TEs to catch the ball, his throws to the outside are NFL caliber both in placement and arm strength, the guy can get a lot of zip on the ball when he needs it, IDK, I've never claimed to be some kind of talent evaluator but just like I had a good feeling about herbert coming out, I like this kid too, he's not on herbert's level overall but when I watch McCarthy play, one thing always pops into my head is that "the things that are lacking in his game are ALL coachable" the things that he already has cannot be coached, I think his floor is really good and his ceiling could be fantastic if he ends up in the right situation...Originally posted by beachcomber View Post

I understand that....and he is 24. So is Nix. Still, he will maybe fall.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

I saw one guy say he could go undrafted. I don't think there is even a little chance of that.

I don't think McCarthy is going to be great. I think at the very least he goes at the top of the second round in a QB hungry league.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

I'll be surprised if he makes it past pick #64, I think that's a bit low but that's my estimate, he'll most likely go early in the second round...Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

who knows, right? you never really know how these guys are going to project to the NFL, but to say that isn't going to do this or that? I don't get that kind of thinking at all, as many times as we've all been proven wrong over and over...I like his potential, IMO he's got the potential to be a franchise guy, whether that happens or not depends on a lot of stuff, but I've seen guys with a lot less potential get drafted in the first round before...Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

Denver would be a great landing spot for McCarthy, Sean Payton is known for coaching up QBs not named Russell Wilson...I'm very much looking forward to seeing how NFL feels about McCarthy..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. But he did play for Harbaugh and JH has made even Colin Kaepernick look good and when JH left, he wasn't quite as good.
JH has made every QB he has had look good.
McCarthy won't have JH. Payton would be a good coach for him though.
Pete Carroll would of been good for him too but Pete got ousted.
For a defensive coach he sure has his QBs playing well.

We could easily see both the Raiders and Broncos take a QB in Round One. Aiden O'Connell isn't who they want to build around in Vegas, and Russell Wilson's stint in Denver is over. I'd love to see each of these teams take a Drew Lock, and then take three years to figure out it won't work.
