Tyreek isnt really relevent, given that he hasnt been there for all 6 Finals. In fact they proved they go on winning Super Bowls without him.

Jones is a worthy answer but when you look back on this Chiefs dynasty, history will think of 3 people first. Reid, Mahomes, Kelce.

Again, Bowers or a trade down if the Falcons are offering a 2nd for a QB at 5

Whether im picking at 5, or 8,10,11 with a trade down, im still picking Bowers. Im all for trading down, getting picks (we need them) and still getting him but , we'll see how it turns out. Never know if a teams draft board from their perspective of BPA and he just might be BPA on their list.

When looking at the best ranked overall players in this draft Bowers is often 3rd or 4th best player overall. While dyanmic, he also has one of the best floors, the surest things to be a good NFL player. I think you are getting Kittle at the very least

It will be interesting to see what happens. Not sure we draft him, and I know some here dont want him, but I am confident Harbaugh knows and loves him. I am also confident Harbaugh is not into trotting back the same underwhelming TE group from last year that some here are suggesting.

Honest to <deity of choice>, I think it will all come down to whether any player remains on the board when the Chargers are on the clock at #5 who generates a too-good-to-pass-up offer to trade the pick.

If not, I'm sure that the Bolts will be prepared to select the BPA. That BPA will most likely turn out to be Brock Bowers.

But we won't know-- CAN'T know-- how this will unfold, until it *does*.

Yes good point, if you get an Ogden or a Pace, by all means use your top 5 pick on an all pro left tackle. Alt is not that level, and we need a right tackle, we have an all pro left tackle.

I don't know what Joe Alt is and you don't, either. Same with Brock Bowers.

We do know what Kyle Pitts, Penei Sewell (projected as a left tackle but has had no problem playing on the right side), and Micah Parsons are now. From this point if Pitts plays to the level he was expected to coming out of college, most teams would still pick Sewell, Parsons, and Slater over him if they were to redo that draft.

They're winning with Kelce, not because of Kelce. They'd have made all the same SBs with Tyreek instead of Kelce. There are only two irreplaceable parts, Mahomes and Reid.
Kelce is notable for off the field reasons in addition to on the field ones. Only the latter are relevant to the debate.

Bowers is good and helps fill a need but getting a WR, Edge, DT, or CB will help the team out much more, and equally importantly offer more cap savings.

Pitts' rookie deal was the 6th highest TE cap hit and taking Bowers at 5 would force us to a similar deal. The only way we get surplus value on Bowers is if he is immediately HoF level.
Compare that to all the other positions where you'd save 10-15 mil compared to FA values.

For example lets say we need 1 WR and 1 TE and have $10 mil to spend on top of the pick. If you draft Bowers and you have 10 mil to spend on a WR, which probably gets you around DJ Chark.
Now lets say you draft Nabers/Odunze, for 10 mil you can get Dalton Schultz. The second combination is much better than the first.
You can do the same drill with every other high value position and the team as a whole is better off filling TE with a FA than using #5 on Bowers and trying to fill a different major need via FA.

Which is why I doubt very seriously the Chargers are going to us the #5 pick on a RT. Even if they trade down to say #8 or #9 I still don't think they take a RT in the top 10. The Chargers aren't planning on picking in the top 5 for a while so why not take the BPA at a position of need? IMHO, this pick is screaming Bowers.

Yes, because they didn't draft or sign an elite offensive tackle, cornerback, or pass-rusher who is on Travis Kelce's level. I guarantee they would rather have an all-time great offensive tackle, pass-rusher, or cornerback than an all-time great tight end, though.

Thats a good comp and I think Kittle at the least is worth the 5th pick in the draft. I am okay with higher floor lower ceiling players. Just good solid players. Enough of the Craig Magers and JT Woods and even a guy like Mckitty, a lot of potential. Just bring in solid players

If you want Kittle for #5, offer the 49ers the pick for Kittle then. They will say "yes" faster than you can blink and the Chargers would get laughed at by everyone for not maximizing the value of the pick.

Most evaluators have Nabers only a shade below Marvin. Nabers would be the #1 WR in most drafts. Yes I think he is in Chases class. Nabers and Odunze for that matter are significantly better than any WR in the 2023 draft. Last years top drafted WR, JSN, would probably be around #6 in this draft. Nabers brings the speed, explosion, YAC that this offense desperately lacks. Like Chase, Nabers can take an 8 yard pass 60 yards. That has been huge benefit to Burrow. Herbert doesnt not have a weapon like that.

Nabers and Odunze are studs who will have big impacts in the NFL.

I dont think this is the draft to take a right tackle at #5. Top 5 should be for a dominant all pro level left tackle. Alt is good but is he that good? Whether he is or not doesnt really matter because we have a good left tackle. But the biggest reason not to pass up a Bowers or a Nabers at 5 for a tackle is because this draft is absolutely stacked at tackle. Senior Bowl confirmed that. Some great options you can trade down for in round 1 or grab at 37. There are also very good tackles in every single NFL draft. There is not a Brock Bowers in every draft and even if there was, with Harbaugh coaching now we wont be drafting in the top 10 with a chance to get one.

That's all very nice that you've read how "evaluators" rate Nabers only a shade below Marvin Harrison. I asked how YOU came to the conclusion that Malik Nabers is on Jamaar Chase's level. I don't care that a bunch of mock draft nerds say Malik Nabers is great. Many of these "experts" don't have a clue. What is it that you see in Nabers leading you to believe he is going to make an impact as great as Jamaar Chase?
