Miami - couldn't protect the QB.
Tennessee - couldn't protect the QB
Dallas - couldn't protect the QB
Baltimore - couldn't protect the QB
Green Bay - couldn't protect the QB

#3: What position group allows you to build more physicality, protect Herbert, run the ball better, AND addresses a primary reason for last seasons losses? It's not wide receiver.

We ran the ball at will against Miami since they sold out to stop Herbert. We lost the game because the D was miserable. At the end we failed to pick
up the blitz. In fact if was the blitz that killed us at the end of games. That's a function of poor coaching, poor pre snap reads not OT blocking. Pipkins
had bad games against elite pass rushers. We did not help him as other teams do when this happens. Better TE help and RB blocking would fix the
issues. Better run game needs OGs and Center along with a decent RB. And by the way the blitz usually came from the left side not the right.

When we lost Williams and Allen for some games the offense went to shit. So WR is also a problem area. QJ did not solve the issue.

Getting the ball out in less than 2 sec protects the QB. Multiple receiving targets protect the QB from holding the ball.
Having a run game protects the QB. We've added blocking TE and a power RB. We need a good C but I'd wait till rd 2.

We are about to sign Hayden Hurst.

I STILL see your guy Bowers in play for us.

            Interesting times.

Weird considering Hurst is not a good run blocking TE. Double checked and he's more of an athletic guy whom was originally drafted in 1st round to Ravens. Comp was Dallas Clark.

                Good point.

He can make a block every once in a while at least.

I have softened and realize Bowers might not be in the cards. I want a top elite WR at 5 like Nabers or if tackle a trade down for more picks. I think Bowers would have to be a trade down also. Or I could go with your Murphy idea or CB Mitchell at around 11. If we stay at 5, which i don't think Hortiz wants to do, I want a blue chip playmaker like Nabers, MHJ....Alt at 5 doesn't work for me. Fuaga, Fashanu or maybe Latham at 11 does. Too many good tackles not to get extra pick.

Fuaga was labeled early on as, "an OT necessitating a move to OG" because lack of length.
then he measured well at the combine and is now thought of as an elite ROT prospect.
but if he CAN play ROG, he might be an exception to the rule and be more valuable to us there.
more specifically, can he "dominate" at ROG
starting ROG and backup ROT? Then maybe slide in at ROT if needed?
If so, he's in play for me at 5.

They're drafting a tackle guys. It'll be no different than detroit running to the podium to turn in the card for Penei Sewell & celebrating.

This Hurst dude has some attitude during and after the play. I like it. Good hands too.
