Drue Tranquill, ILB, Notre Dame, 6-2, 234
Overview
Tranquill is a strong, tough football player who loves to play the game. What evaluators are going to see is a player who has below-average size, recovery athleticism, and man cover skills. He Might not get much bigger so he needs to gain the attention of general managers with explosive testing and then prove he can shine as a special teamer in order to secure a roster spot and make a living as a backup linebacker.
Strengths- Aggressive, physical mindset made transition from safety to linebacker much easier
- Beach-body build with strong base and low center of gravity
- Plays assignment-based football and is effective doing dirty work as run blitzer
- Revs up motor from the first snap to the last and rarely lets off the gas
- Improved ability to elude and work around head-on blocks
- Stalks running backs with good patience and desired leverage to sideline
- Uses strong hands and powerful upper body to jam and redirect tight ends headed into routes
- Experienced and productive in kick and punt coverage

NFL.com analysis. He has injury concerns. And sounds literally like a Kyzir White clone (who was also a 4th round pick last year). We seem to want LBs that can cover and can stay on third downs.

Weaknesses- Frame looks maxed out
- Doesn't have the athletic traits to consistently recover from missteps
- Stat sheets filled with too many missed tackles over last couple of seasons
- Fearless taking on climbing blockers but lacks mass to hold his ground
- Lacks speed and length to prevent runners from outpacing his pursuit to the corner
- Man coverage more inconsistent than expected for a former safety
- Slow to turn and find football and allows tight ends to separate from him out of breaks
- Two separate ACL tears (each knee) will certainly draw attention from medical staffs
