My guess - they're hoping nobody claims him so they can engineer a trade. If someone claims him they will pull him back unless the claiming team is willing to deal. I don't see anyone claiming him.

I could see the Pads finding a trade partner. But his value is way down. Typical.Originally posted by 6025 View PostMy guess - they're hoping nobody claims him so they can engineer a trade. Virtually everyone gets put on waivers every year. It's just a team's way of finding out how much interest there is out there for down the road. Even if a team has no interest at all in trading a player, they put him on waivers and see who reacts. They then contact that team and talk about a trade. But in reality, it tells them what players the other side is interested in trading.Originally posted by ArtistFormerlyKnownAsBKR View PostI could see the Pads finding a trade partner. Headley is starting to remind me of Kouz: Excellent fielders with a fair power bat but very streaky. Headley is probably a better hitter than Kouz, but his nagging injuries seem to get the best of him, except in 2012. A trade partner will likely want to talk extension with him, and based on how Headley ignored the Pads overtures this past spring, he may just want to go into FA after next season. That makes him potentially a rental in 2014 for anyone interested in the guy...Fighting for Carson...and Wilmington...
