Look, I appreciate your optimism. But we've all seen this before. Multiple times. Maybe Paddack turns out to be the next Jose Fernandez. But there is a long way from A-ball to the majors. Injuries, failure to adjust to higher levels or even the majors, failure of our development program, off-field issues, maturity, etc all have a chance to enter the picture before he arrives in SD, if at all. Or how about he kicks ass at every level comes to the majors and flops his first season and then we trade him to Chicago for Cashner? Remember Dennis Tankersley? Gerik Baxter and Mike Darr? How about Sean Burroughs? Ruben Rivera? Casey Kelly? Robbie Erlin? I mean, we've all seen this before. Rodney was a luxury on the team, no doubt. We should have traded him.
