Guardado is unreal on PK's. Unsavable.
Mexico has been getting the calls, no doubt. First penalty was a joke and the ref should be ashamed, but the second penalty was legit. Not sure if CONCACAF would be bold enough to pull off shenanigans with everything going on surrounding FIFA/CONCACAF and the ongoing investigation, but would be far from inconceivable.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal between Mexico and Panama saw a 12-minute delay after a questionable penalty call in favor of Mexico by American referee Mark Geiger late in the 88th minute. How questionable? The guy who drew level, Andres Guardado, said after the game that he thought about missing it on purpose and that it hurt to take it. His team ended up winning 2-1 thanks to two penalty kicks.
"I thought about it, but one has to be professional," Guardado said. "We've been on the other side."
Damn.
