Saying pay should be based just on how much the sport makes continues the cycle of sexism. A main reason women's soccer is not as popular worldwide is because of sexism (which I think the US is not as bad as most other countries even with the recent prez elect). That sexism results in good pay for crappy teams like the USMNT. Pay should take the performance of the professionals into account and for quite some time the women's team has been running laps around the men's team. We should reward performance.

Well, the 4yr cycle for the USMNT is looking like a possible short cycle, the way they are playing. There is no excuse to getting blasted by Costa Rica (yeah, it was 'away'... but 4-0 was inexcusable.)
There are some other things besides pay, like flying in coach vs. first class, hotels, fields (Women's World Cup played on artificial turf, vs natural grass) that are unequal.

My concern was with Michael Bradley. Sometimes I wonder what the hell is going on when he's on defense and in a couple of touches, there is a shot on our goal. He did have a nice left footed goal, though.
I'm not sure that the Panama match is a must win, yet, but it looks like a rough road to just get into the top 3.

I know the pundits like to build up the drama but we are going to qualify. If by some chance we don't finish at least 3rd in the Hex we will finish 4th. I'm pretty sure we could win the home/away to advance. I'd say less than 1% chance we don't qualify. If we don't finish in top 3 in Hex we sure as hell don't belong in the World Cup.
