Haha. I refuse to be blamed for the Padres being broken. They were broken before I was born.

One of the many, many things that sucks about baseball, is that, if you root for any team other than a big market team, you are wasting your time. You will never get to see your team win a championship.

              Here are some other things.

Is San Francisco considered a big market?

                Carlin rules.

The population (including its suburbs) is 8.5 million. I'd say yeah. For comparison, New York is at 8.4 million.

This is disingenuous. Why are you comparing the population of San Francisco's metropolitan area (8.5 million) to the population of New York City (8.4 million) instead of the population of New York's metropolitan area (23.5 million)??? This is Yuba-like use of stats!

LOL... I didn't intend to short NYC. Just posted the first things that came up in a Google search.

I looked at a few sites and found that SuperCharger is right. San Francisco is one of the largest markets. However, some, not all, of those same sites consider St. Louis to be one of the smallest markets. And, for whatever reason, on just about every site, Oakland is considered a smaller market than San Francisco. And Anaheim is either considered equal to or larger than the Los Angeles market. I have a hard time believing any of that bullshit, but whatever. I think the only owner we had who really wanted to win for the pure sake of winning was Ronald McDonald. If he had stayed alive long enough to figure out how to win, we might have a championship. Maybe we can get Jack to buy the team?

Really, what it boils down to, is not so much how big the market is, it's how much money the team can spend to buy their championship. That was really my point, and one of the biggest reasons I hate (major league) baseball.
