Flanker! There is a term not used much or at all in today's NFL.

Paul Lowe a....half back.....another term seldom used today.

Back in the days of Jim Brown it was the fullbacks who were the studs, Brown, Jim Taylor, John Henry Johnson,, the first 1000 yard rusher in the AFL Cookie Giilchrist, our Keith Lincoln, Don Perkins etc

Gotta love Lowe's high-top cleats in the photo. For the record, he wore low-cut Riddell's when he played in San Diego. That was the pretty much the standard cleat in those days and the Bolts' local supplier for all their gear was Higgins and Crosthwaite Athletic Supply on 10th Street in downtown San Diego. Higgins and Crosthwaite also supplied most of the athletic equipment to local high schools and colleges in those days too. Great store!

Yep, high tops and I can relate.

Lowe was so smooth and never got the props he deserved.

All these cards today are just pictures taken in a game then stuck on a card, as we can see some time and effort was put into these....

American football is derived from what we call soccer and rugby. It was introduced in the 1890s. American football adopted the positions of fullback, halfback and quarterback from these two sports. Rugby had three quarter backs, wings and centers in today's game, but American football never had three quarter backs. Flanker is also a position term borrowed from Rugby.

Would love to have played rugby but my school didn't have a team , well actually nobody did back then. Too big for soccer.
