I think im clueless in regards to how the tag actually works.

From my recollection, there are two flavors of UFA franchise tags. The exclusive negotiating rights tag takes the average of the top 5 players in the position or 120% of previous pay, and the non-exclusive takes the top 10 players or 120% of previous pay. The non-exclusive tag also costs another team two #1s. The option year probably was written to be well beyond the number for a franchise tag.

The two guys that have me somewhat hopeful in FA this year are Stefan Wisnewski and Rodney Hudson. Both would make nice additions to our OL, but will cost about what it cost to have Hardwick ($6 mill a year), although since they are both young, I think it is probably worth it.

Justin Houston and Suh are the hot commodities on defense. Unless we don't resign, Flowers too will be hottest CB in FA market. Lock up Flowers and Dunlap. I like the low-mid range FA's, as Houston or Suh will break our banks. If I'm breaking bank, its for OT or WR help. Highly doubtful Dallas lets Bryant walk. How about a 3rd or 4th rounder for Josh Gordon(Trade rumors)?

Gordon ???? His talent to knucklehead ratio is off the charts, not sure I would even give up our sixth for him.

I would consider it, but Rivers won't last the season if they don't solidify the line. Houston or Suh would be a plus over Flowers, but you'd have to sign Wright for sure.

Except we would literally have no money left, so signing any FA, even our own would be just about impossible, even at cut rate prices.
