We can also start throwing chop blocks and, in hopes of more-supportive officiating, start kissing ass with the league's office. Mike McCoy came from an organization that was into that stuff so he should have some idea how to run the operation.

Has Luiget really been outstanding?Originally posted by Panama View PostWe keep bemoaning the state of the DL, but...
Liuget has been outstanding.
Mathews has been a pleasant surprise.
Lissemore has played well.
Palepoi and Carrethers have been better and better each week with limited opportunities.
Only Reyes has been a disappointment on the DL.
The problem in the front 7 hasn't been the DL. It's been a lack of pass rush, which is mostly due to injuries to Attaochu and Ingram, and the ILB position, where Te'o has been out and Butler has been horrible.
So, I'm not sure how much acquiring another DT will really help. I'm not opposed to the idea in principle insomuch as I'm not opposed to upgrading any position, but DT has not been the problem.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention. Our refusal to spend a #1 pick on a real NT is causing all this. A REAL NT would defeat double teams and have at least 6 sacks by now. Maybe your pissing contest with QSmucker is clouding your vision of the obvious?Originally posted by Panama View PostWe keep bemoaning the state of the DL, but...

only 1 with Bionic Shoulders that averaged 2 INTS per game in College, but the real NEED in the Secondary is a in the box SS like Rodney that can intimidate and lay the wood on any WRs in his area. That will of course require a 2nd top of the 1st round pick next year, that we should acquire by trading Rivers after his next streak of good games when his stock is back up.Originally posted by Panama View PostThe real need is for a 7-foot CB, innit?Life is too short to drink cheap beer

I'm pretty sure the bad calls, horrible scheduling, and non Marquee status all goes away if Spanos moves the team to LA.Originally posted by thelightningwill View PostWe can also start throwing chop blocks and, in hopes of more-supportive officiating, start kissing ass with the league's office. I don't think there is much we can do about the pass rush until we get some edge rushers back. I prefer a 43 D, but even if we went that way right now, there are no DE available who could help. We would be stuck with the same crew to play DE, and while I think several of them can do that, we still have the same basic issue. Not enough healthy bodies outside and not enough good blitzers inside (that is where we miss Teo most, IMHO).

I count about 33% of snaps in traditionalish 3-4 alignments.
The issue is that all our young guys now have much more to learn rather than focusing on certain skills.

Sad thing is that to fix the pass rush they are going to have to tank the rest of this season to get a nice high draft pick. With NE, KC, Denver, SF still on the schedule, we could pull this off
