    Rivers injured?

Derek Togerson: Chargers TE Antonio Gates just told me Philip Rivers has been dealing w/a serious rib injury the last 3 or 4 weeks. Explains a lot.

They just mentioned it too on the post-game show. Apparently Gehlken tweeted it as well. Yep, that could explain a lot.

Well... That explains the wounded duck knuckle ball passes. This is serious as Ribs are very slow to recover.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I bet McCoy isn't too happy with Gates right about now.

What's he going to do about it? Bench his best offensive weapon?

                Nothing.

Good to see a player stick up for his teammate

Not good news. I did not see the game today or see a highlight but the score indicates a bad offensive performance. Not good to have a rib injury with a crap OL.

Maybe that is the bigger issue with the offensive performance, but our interior OL wasn't playing that well when we were winning, plus where is the pressure coming from that is the injury came from? Interior pass rush.

It's not that they are hopeless, just that we keep having our RB hit in the backfield, and they can't get positive yards, and Rivers is under constant pressure. There is a reason that it looks live Norv is calling the plays, we have the same issues that we had back then. Norv and AJ don't get a pass because they never got around to fixing the interior OL. McCoy and TT are still trying to rebuild the roster.

The one thing I kept thinking about this week was that TT and MM took a lot of crap this offeseason because they were looking to add depth rather then make a splash and add top talent. And maybe there is something to that, but try to think about how big a disaster we would be facing now if they hadn't. Not that the guys that they brought in have been so great, but if guys like Bront Bird had still been starting at ILB for however many games, this mess could be a whole lot worse.

Might as well add a bull's eye to River's jersey now.

I wonder if the league will come down on the team for hiding his injury. Evidently Fluker also has a knee issue going on that I had not heard before.
