Most frequent Chargers penalty: Offensive holding (25), false start (17), defensive holding (16), defensive pass interference (13), illegal use of the hands (7), roughing the passer (6).
Key stat: The Chargers were called for at least eight penalties a contest in the last six games
Most penalized Chargers: CB Shareece Wright (13), T D.J. Fluker (9), S Marcus Gilchrist (7), C Chris Watt (6), Melvin Ingram (6).
Summary: The Chargers finished with a total of 107 penalties in 2013. ... The Seahawks were the most penalized team in the NFL for a second straight season, but are in position to advance to their second straight Super Bowl title. The Ravens finished as the second-most penalized team in 2012 but still moved on to win the Super Bowl. ... Surprising that Fluker had just two holding calls after some of his struggles against the elite pass-rushers in the NFL. Of course, Fluker's six false starts also are likely a result of trying to get an extra step against speed rushers. Fluker finished with four false starts in 2013. ... Wright was called for a team-high eight pass interference penalties in 2014. He was called for pass interference four times in 2013. ... Watt led all San Diego rookies with six penalties, including four for holding.
