    Comp picks

I don't know how accurate it is, but the Orange Maners are posting that the Broncos are projected to receive 3-4 compensation picks in the upcoming draft due to their losses in free agency. I really cannot understand how they can sign TJ Ward, Aqib Talib, Ware, Sanders and I am sure I am missing someone and get ANY comp picks. And to top it off, the 'fans' over there are ticked off that they are not getting more and crying about the Patriots getting a higher pick than them even though they signed Revis.

Anybody have the guessed rules on comp picks handy? I know they think they're getting one for S.Phillips, but I have no idea how that works with SP already on a new team in the same season with a fresh contract.

If a player is cut from a team and signed, it doesnt count as a FA signing. I dont know if they will get 4 comp picks but that is the most thy can have.

Anybody want to try the math for us and how many ...if any, we might get?

How fitting....Denver signs Shaun Phillips for 1 season at 2.5 million( i thought it was only 1 million) and lets him walk and they get a 6th round comp pick for him?

Comp picks tend to not be worth that much. The high value ones start at the end of the 3rd round, and go down from there. So, basically an extra 4th rounder at most.

Den is projected by over the cap ass being a 4th, 2x6th and a 7th, so it is not like they are going to get a huge amount of value, despite the fact that, on paper, they lost a lot of value.

we go through this every year and it seems fuzzy every time. From what I think I remember a basic factor in the formula is some $ amount of new contracts signed by FAs you LOST has to be greater than $ amount of contracts awarded for new FAs you signed by some % to get any comp consideration? If that holds true, how many big FA contracts did we give out this year? Wasn't Flowers our biggest, and on a team friendly deal with incentives? I don't think we earned any comp picks, so not like we're getting screwed.
