Yeah I liked him too. He was always nails on special teams, & he did make some clutch catches for us over the last coupla years. That being said, I think his performance (multiple dropped passes) against SF last season may have sealed his fate with us. Plus, with Inman stepping up, there probably wasn't going to be space for Tutu anyway.

The probability of our opponent returning kicks and punts just increased.
      Prediction:
      Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

That sucks. Guess we need a more talented WR corps.

He was never very special as a WR, but at least he could play some in a pinch which is more than most ST aces. To me, that is what we will miss without Gachkar and Tutu, a couple of backups who were nothing special on O/D but could play in a pinch and excel on ST. And ST for a team like us is HUGE.

If he wasn't on the team, then they would have carried one less WR because he wasn't on the team to fill that role.

I think the signing of Jacoby Jones kind of sealed his fate.

We already have a WR that is going to be mostly used for special teams, but as a returner, rather than a gunner.

Always like Tutu. That TD catch he had against KC 2 years ago, was one of my favorite moments as a chargers fan.

I can buy the Jacoby Jones thing, but only if we are going to be emphasizing the multiple TE look more. There was room to carry 5 WR, with 3 starters, Jones and Tutu. We throw to our RB and TE enough that we can still move the ball with Jones and Tutu at WR. It is a big step down, but not the kiss of death to our offense.

Did you just say we can move the ball with Tutu? Really? Why is he gone then? Doesn't add up...

A don't see a big step down....unless we have a matador playing gunner. Yes, he was very good as a gunner, but we have increased the return game, and the last WR spot may also come via the draft. he played well for us, and made a good career being a very good ST coverage guy.

just trying to spend as much of his career with RM as possible.

                        See ya Tutu.

We move the ball reasonably well when Tutu was on the field. He wasn't catching the passes, but he was a good enough route runner to help others get open and allowed us to run route combinations we liked. Add in some rookie, you may not get that for a while. Too many college WR run routes in straight lines and that doesn't cut it in the NFL.

Again, most fans minimize the importance of field position and position specific skills.

We have improved the return game, but that advantage is meaningless if we allow other teams better field position. In fact, with our ball control style of play, the other personnel we have, the coverage is far more important part of the equation.
