I don't think Lael will drop unless it appears he had something to do with the murder, which it doesn't appear he did.

Just because he was friends with a victim.. It's more tragic and probably isn't entirely uncommon.. These guys don't all come from the greatest neighborhoods.

Report: Teams have contacted Titans regarding No. 2 overall pick

As might be expected, the Titans are a popular club among their NFL brethren as the draft nears.

More than one club has reached out to Tennessee to inquire about the No. 2 pick in the first round, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

It’s unclear how many teams have called the Titans or whom those clubs might be targeting with the second overall selection.

However, the Titans are operating from a position of strength in Round One, which begins Thursday night in Chicago. At least one of the top two quarterbacks, whether it’s Oregon’s Marcus Mariota or Florida State’s Jameis Winston, will still be on the board at No. 2.

It’s assumed the Buccaneers like Winston. Less is known on how the Titans will proceed. But we now know teams are sniffing around the second pick.

49ers to introduce first-ever alternate uniforms

Thursday’s 49ers draft party won’t simply celebrate the newest member of the team. It’ll also include a look at the team’s first-ever alternate uniforms.

The 49ers will be unveiling the new alternate jersey, the first change to the team’s uniform since 2009.

“I think the fans are going to be excited when they see our new look,” 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman said in a press release. “I think the fans are going to understand we mean business. All I can say is we won’t have to worry about how we look, because we’ll know we look good.”

While the 49ers have never had an alternate uniform, they fully embraced the throwback uniforms worn by all teams in the NFL’s 75th season of 1994. Originally planned for limited use, the NFL allowed each team to wear their old-school uniforms as often as they pleased, and the 49ers rode theirs all the way to their most recent Super Bowl victory.

Teams anxious to get reliable information on La’el Collins

Posted by Mike Florio on April 29, 2015, 7:15 PM EDT

As eleventh-hour surprises go, there are the conveniently-timed smokescreens and the poorly-timed blunders. Then there are the horribly-timed, complicated situations that require teams to sift through troubling details in a very small handful of days.

For tackle La’El Collins, the timing couldn’t be much worse because the time to figure out his situation couldn’t be much more limited.

It’s known that police want to talk to Collins regarding a murder investigation. It’s also known that Collins believes he has an alibi, and that his lawyer hopes Collins will be ruled out as a suspect — which means he still could be, in theory, ruled in. It’s further known that the woman who has murdered was pregnant, and that Collins possibly was the father.

Some teams fear that, if Collins ultimately is determined to be the father, he could end up being a suspect. Regardless of the quality of his own personal alibi, police would need to determine that Collins has no connection of any kind to the persons who committed the crime before conclusively finding that Collins had nothing to do with it.

At this point, there’s no evidence that points to Collins as a suspect. But teams making significant investments in post-Ray Rice reality of the NFL can’t afford, less than a month after the conviction of Aaron Hernandez for the killing of Odin Lloyd, to take a chance on Collins without knowing for sure that Collins won’t become a suspect, a defendant, or eventually a convict for something that happened before his name was written onto the card.

Cops want to talk to La’el Collins in murder investigation, not a suspect

A potential first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft has a much weightier matter to deal with this week.

According to WAFB, police in Baton Rouge, La., want to talk to LSU offensive lineman La’El Collins regarding a murder investigation, though he’s not a suspect.

The report says the police are investigating the murder of a pregnant woman, a 29-year-old who was shot to death last Friday night.

The woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Cpl. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department said they were trying to reach Collins now.

“We are consistently pursuing getting in touch with him, not as a suspect, but to ask him questions about the victim,” Coppola said. “Detectives have reached out and been in touch with his agent. Collins is currently in Chicago for the NFL draft. . . .

“They did have some kind of relationship. Detectives just want to learn more about what he might know.”

The woman was eight months pregnant, but the child survived the shooting, and remains under medical care.

Collins was one of the 28 players who accepted the league’s invitation to attend the draft.
