Staley’s Defensive Scheme

The defense played really well last week and deserves a ton of credit. Beyond turnovers, they did a nice job containing Mahomes.
The last two weeks it was clear that they felt that the passing game was the most dangerous part of the offenses they were playing. Like Belichick, they aimed to take away what they did best. The Raiders have been strong in the air and on the ground. What do they aim to take away? And they try to be a vertical passing game. But then they have Waller to wreak havoc underneath.
Once we get to Cleveland and Baltimore, those are hands down teams that aim to run the ball. They would love to see us use the defensive strategy we used against Dallas and KC. But I'm guessing/hoping that we will change it up and aim to force them to throw. Baker is a solid QB with limited weapons right now because Landry and Beckham are injured. Lamar is at his best when he's running and throwing on the move. The key with him is forcing him to beat you over the top, something he has not been able to do reliably.

Goal 1: prevent explosive passing plays
Goal 2: prevent intermediate passing plays
Conpromise: Not all gaps covered by run fits
Bradley:
Goal 1: prevent explosive passing plays
Goal 2: 100% coverage on run fits
Compromise: intermediate passing is not covered
There's more to it that that with disguise and unpredictability. Chargers play their pre snap coverage 50% of the time. Coin flip if the pre snap read is accurate for the QB.
And while Bradley requires +++ players in the secondary and edge groups, Staley requires +++ players in the DL to make up for lack of numbers. DL is the #1 priority next offseason.

Some anchor.
Can rotate inside n outside.
Great, great motor.
Alas he is Top 5.
Would be a perfect fit.
Augmentation to what we have.
I believe this man would have a Donald-like impact for us.We do not play modern football.

Agree that DL is the #1 upgrade they can make next season. Oh, and RT“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

Robert Mays is the best.
We will Rope-a-Dope the Raiders similarly, minus QB mobility.

- A base 34DE and IDL passrusher.
- anchor and winning consistent leverage battles is questionable
- has a solid effective PR arsenal for an interior prospect
- elite quickness, snap anticipation, strike power, disengagement skills and block deconstruction processing
If this kid comes out he’s a AD clone…….
