I'd pay the man what the top QBs make. He was MVP material in the first half of last year before our OL blew up with our RB situation going to hell. I think he's a high impact player much less a QB....he is worth top 5 money and has plenty in the tank barring major injury.

Get er done and start talking with the Weddle-maker next and see if he will come to play or if his feewings are still hurt

Finally something to feel positive about over the previous six months! Getting Rivers extended would sure help to lighten things up in Charger land. Get it done...

I don't quite recall, but he opted for rest over surgery, right?

not gonna happen. National media now speculating Sheli Manning next to get a contract. Let's face the facts: all of Rivers' contemporaries have Super Bowl rings and he doesn't. Ergo, he does not deserve as rich a deal for less accomplishments. All this talk about every new contract "setting the bar" is hogwash, but that's where his agent will start and it will lead to a stalemate with the team. I see him playing out this contract this year and them Franchising him next year while the stadium issue plays out. I could see him retire like Carson Palmer did to force a trade later, but I still don't see him getting a long term deal @ +$20 mil per year with no Super Bowls.

So Rivers pays because Shottenheimer sucks in the playoffs?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

LT paid too as did all the other players on the team when our safety fumbled away the game winning interception.

I've even blocked the players name from my memory!
                  Go Rivers!

I think most of us would opt for rest over surgery for a lot of things ...... But then you can't just roll up and expect 20 mill a year, of course I'm sure he'll get checked out first....

Rivers has done so much without a lot of consistent help for so long, I'd pay him more than Russell, done. Break the bank on him, bulging disc and all.
