Like everyone else, I'd like to see them replace Storm with a better OT. But, I think he has improved quite a bit since we got him, and remember he played for Toledo in college and we got him from the USFL. All things considered, we're getting our money's worth from him. Want someone better? We'll have to pay more for him.

They changed things up so frequently that the few times Storm was put on an island, the DE still was operating on chip mode.

This is not what one wants when Telesco talks about developing players.
I don't think it held the offense back at all against the Eagles, but for sure Norton got a lot of help. He is a backup swing tackle. He is not intended to be the long term starter but that is how it worked out. He has gotten steadily better, but is a limited player and has lapses and is definitely the weak link on the line.

Getting a long time OT vet $$$$ on a 2 year pull the rip cord contract

& then select an OT within the first two rounds to use as your swing tackle is probably the way to go.

Neither are sure fire solutions, but at the worst, you'll upgrade the RT problem.

You simply can't hope Pip develops soon anymore. That failure is why Norton is starting.

But as the backup or swing tackle, I don't think it would be that difficult to upgrade over Storm or Pipkins, would it?
There are lots of guys in the NFL who would be great swing OT, and they are STARTING. If not for the team who developed them because of injury, because they take the money and run as FA.

Quality OL just don't make it to FA. There was a reason that Bulaga was the best RT in his FA class. There was a reason that Lindsay was allowed to walk by GB. There was a reason Feiler left Pitt. Good OL don't make it to FA. We had a great season in FA. But we will need to do the same thing again to fill out the OL spots. I think Storm will at least be back in camp fighting for a roster spot. We sign a FA, they will be forced to play at RT, and Storm will be the swing OT.

If we have just as much luck in FA, we will be moderately set on OL, but that leaves a lot of money tied up in the OL, and a lot of holes in other spots. Many seasons we try just as hard as this year and end up with a Orlando Franklin or a Trai Turner of the world, and have nothing to show for it. Spending a high pick's, and a lot of FA money on backups makes it really hard to rebuild the DL and CB, and add other players at other positions.

Pipkins isn't even playing on short yardage anymore, so you have to think he is probably on his way out. Kelmete was playing as an extra TE that role this week. They will probably keep Pipkins till late in the year, in case of an emergency, then fill his roster on a futures guy. If we look like we are still in the playoff picture, maybe keep Pipkins for a while longer, but his days are numbered. He simply has gotten worse since his rookie year.

Small time college OT, covid, and then new coaching staff?

            How is this possible?

All the power to TT if he can find enough players to replace Storm as a backup, but we struggled to find even backup OL the last few years. We also need to find a legit starter to be in front of him. And that is a lot of quality players to add if we are looking to add additional players to other positions. The demand for quality players, regardless of positions is high, making it even tougher. It's not like you can just order off the menu.
We signed 3FA Olineman last season alone. All three have proven to be excellent signings. Abu was playing very well before his season ending injury and at a hell of a good price tag. We drafted her franchise left tackle last season, develop the kid out of Neb, draft, add cap friendly vet. The turnover in our offensive line has been dramatic in one season, and so have the positive results. It will continue next season. Completely reworking the starters and the depth in one off season was not a very realistic goal. They are well on their way.
