I suspect that was Porkchops last snap as a Charger. You don't keep a backup that only plays RG, and a sucky one at that.
The first thing that went through my mind watching him as he was kneeling on the field after getting hurt was that the look on his face was that of a man that knows it's over.

Funny, I thought the same thing. He just looked... defeated....
I like Novak as a field goal kicker. I think we should have a second kicker who can get the ball through the end-zone on kickoffs.
I know, somebody will say that we can't afford the roster spot.
Yes we can.
I can think of a few players from last season who were less valuable than 10-to-20 yards of field position after every kickoff.
We had three backup tightends; we could have cut one for a kicker.
We had Ronnie Brown and Donald Brown at runningback - we could have cut one for a kicker.
Cordarro Law at linebacker could have been cut for a kicker.
Team looks improved, but not elite. Holding off judgement until I see a completed pass over 12 yards later on in the preseason.
Prediction: Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably. Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) . Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.
It is tough to pass much judgment after last night but the team does seem improved overall (except the backup QB play-brutal). If anything, the team seems more physical overall and the drafted players all seem to be very active and around the ball. I think they all make the team and will contribute as part of the regular rotations as the season progresses. Perryman and Emanuel are going to be players on this D for years to come.

Agree on the backup QB situation, Ute....IMO, Sorenson was better than Clemons, but he too looked pretty rough. I am so incredibly stoked about Emanuel....he beasted out there last night. I still like Novak a lot, but he is getting up there in age, & if Lambo has decent accuracy, I wonder if the Bolts roll the dice on him this year (either keeping 2 kickers, or replacing Novak altogether).
BTW kick return game looked much improved. That was a huge negative last year.
