Didn't Carney go to the Saints after we cut him?

Free agent K Nick Novak will work out for the Saints on Tuesday.
Novak, 34, was surprisingly cut by the Chargers in favor of UDFA Josh Lambo. The Saints currently have inexperienced Zach Hocker as their kicker.

There are always teams who want to upgrade their kickers, so there is really no way that Novak is going to be out of work this year.

I would have kept Novak, myself. But I am pretty conservative (and overly loyal at times) and I also do remember Carney and all the fan complaints about kickoffs that led to Wade Richey failing here.

Having said that, I think Lambo will be ok. He definitely has the talent and if you listen to him speak, he seems to be put together pretty well. Kicking seems to be mental/psychological as much as anything else and he appears mature, confident, and calm.
