Mathis probably benefitted being opposite Feeney, of course. Hmmm....how would that apply here?

Sacks are not the best stat any more for several reasons but they were clearly impact players.

I wouldn't exactly call Mack a "shell of his former 2018 self." In his 7 games played last year, he tallied 6 sacks. This extrapolates to about 14-15 sacks in a 17-game season. Mack still has plenty of gas left in the tank, and with Bosa opposite him, he won't be double-teamed as often.

Great point. Mack is far from done. He’s been a one man defender on that defense the last two years, and he still has put up big numbers when playing. We aren’t making the playoffs until we can consistently stop teams, and in a division loaded with quarterback talent that becomes even more imperative.
