I bet the Chargers come out swinging it happens every year when you expect them to be down and out they rally the troops, but unfortunately I say we will come up short. I just don't see us beating an elite QB like Arron Rodgers. We just will not be able to score enough against him.

Glass half-full outcome for us to pull off upset of the year

    1. We would need to control the clock this would mean Melvin Gordon is on the field 80% of the offensive plays and he is running for over 125 yard and hopefully this is the game he breaks a long TD run.
    2. Rivers no stupid INTs
    3. Defense has to tackle and be lights out, Verrett has shown he can cover the leagues best wide out, but we now need others to do what I haven't seen, which is stop the run limit to short gains, and get sacks and consistent pressure.
    4. Because I don't think the O-line will be able to sustain long drives and block good at the goal line we settle for FG's so we need freakin Jacoby Jones to give us some good returns and take one to the house.

I hate to rain on everyone's 10-6/11-5 parade, but I guess I can chalk that up to the difference between true fans (you guys) and not-so-true fans (me).

Did we all just collectively forget that we BARELY beat Cleveland - Cleveland! - with future HOF QB Josh McCown lighting us up for 400+ yards passing and 27 pts? And then we followed that up with a loss to a team with a convicted criminal, certifiable sicko, and probably one of the worst QBs in the League behind center?

And both games were AT HOME?

At least we can all agree that GB is going to be resting their starters by the beginning of the 4th quarter en route to a 4-score victory next week. But this talk of sweeping KC and Oakland, and splitting with Denver, is, well, homerism at it's best (worst?). We almost NEVER win in KC and Denver; and a split with Oakland is pretty much the norm nowadays. We'd be LUCKY to get 2 wins out of that 6.

Baltimore and Miami on EST? When was the last time we beat Miami? Have we EVER beaten them in their house?

Nope. I say there are, at most, 4 more 'Ws' this year: One against Oakland, Jax, the KC home game, and MAYBE Chicago.

Good thing we aren't playing them in Miami.

The last time we beat Miami in Miami was the epic OT game in 1982. But yeah, the game is here this year.

OK, then we get 1 win out of Miami and Chicago.

In our only other win, we had to come from a huge deficit to beat the lions, currently winless, and that was when we had most (not all) of the line intact.

That game was worth three decades of losing.

The good news is we've beat them many times in San Diego including the great playoff game in 1995 when Stoyonovich missed the field goal in the portion of the field that was chewed up by Shula's golf cart (he refused to heed the directive to stay off the rain soaked field).

I remember the game well. I was there. We also beat the shit out of them when they were trying for an undefeated season one year. We also beat them that time Gary Anderson did that flip into the end zone.

And the Monday Night game where Anthony Miller caught that Hail Mary TD pass at the end of the first half that basically shut the door on them. The place went nuts. Lot of good history between these teams. I think it started in 1972 during their undefeated season when Deacon Jones and Ron East broke Bob Griese's ankle. Shula held a grudge all those years.

Cool. I forgot about the Anthony Miller catch.

While we are talking about Anthony Miller - it's important to bring up his kick return for a touchdown that helped us beat the Raiders. Raiders suck.
