This era of Chargers football is OVER

    Floyd - retiring
    Gates - probably not returning
    Weddle - will be gone
    team - moving to LA
    Rivers - ???

The sun has set on the last 10+ years of relatively successful football. Long gone are guys like Tomlinson, Jamal, Jammer, Donnie Edwards, etc. Rivers will be 34 next year and this team needs a LOT of work. For his sake I hope he is traded to a contender (not likely with that contract, I imagine) or he just retires to spare his health and sanity. This team needs to be blown up in the worst way, Rivers cannot withstand another 3 year rebuilding effort.

Very Chargers-esque way to close out the team's history in San Diego - irrelevant and with a whimper.

100% Agree. I really hope McCoy is fired this week. It would be a highlight for me. I don't think I can take another one of his bullshit press conferences.

Rivers could have just waited instead of re-signing. He also lobbied for Norv. Sometimes he's his own worst enemy.

He's so enthusiastic. Poor guy deserves better.

Perhaps he does, but then again, he crafted his own destiny too.

Yep sad to see. Kept thinking to myself, that window that we've kept talking about for the last 12 years is finally shut and nailed closed.

Let's be honest, it died when McCree fumbled that INT away.

imagine how much worse this team would look this season WITHOUT rivers.

i don't think anyone would disagree, but if the FO was going to rebuild, last offseason was the chance to rebuild.

Maybe a reality they may need to blow up the whole team from coaching staff to players, Is there any upper tier coach out there that would want to coach this team when you only have Rivers and a suspect O-line Rivers isn't getting younger and the Defense lone superstar is (Verrett) and he may be injury prone based on a short sample size.

They may have package Rivers in a God-father deal and re-build the whole team

People aren't paying much attention - Telesco has already started rebuilding. We have 18 players left from the AJ era left on the roster. Right now, the young players are playing like young players do. It remains to be seen if they improve or not. But it's better to be young and bad than old and bad.

It's hard to tell if it's patching or rebuilding.
