I think Addae will probably get a letter in his locker later this week. I think the hit was borderline legal, but what caught the official's eye was that he "launched" into the receiver trying to dislodge the ball, without using his arms to get to the ball. If he had attempted to wrap up, probably not a penalty. If it were college, he'd be lost for a full 4 quarters including the next game for "Targeting", which is good for obvious intentional hits in the head and neck area, but a shoulder-to-shoulder hit is on the borderline for that call. (and I do think its called a little too much for borderline hits).
Is that the play where his shoulder hit the receiver's shoulder? That flag shouldn't have ever been thrown, but it's almost automatic now, when the hit is sort of high.

Chargers S Jahleel Addae disagreed with flag Sunday for unnecessary roughness, hit on defenseless receiver. NFL reviewed play. No fine.
