    The Defense

For all of the bullshit stupidity and injuries to the OL and WRs, can we talk about this defense? I get that we're going to lose a bunch of games this year and fine, whatever. But what's happening on defense in the second halves? They just fall apart. First down First down First down First down First down First down First down First down First down First down First down. It's like a drill. Cutler just fucked around and lead them to that TD. But it was that way last week. We saw it against Pitt. We've seen it in other games. First half there is intensity. Second half they don't even show up. It's pathetic.

It's because half the players starting on defense would be bubble players on most other teams.

Ingram and Attachou combine for a couple decent pressures a game but still mostly invisible.

Verrett is a great talent but still learning.

      Nobody else worth two shits.

The reality is we are undersized, have few playmakers, and our LBs and DBs are hurt all the time. Add in bad special teams that constantly put us in bad field position and a really poor defensive coordinator that can't seem to make adjustments and this is what we get.

The defense is just plain sad. Weddle is sad. Flowers is sad. Butler is sad. Ingram is playing well below his weight.

Only Te'o and Liuget were missing from the starting lineup today - and the Bears still rolled up and down the field.

Bears even spotted the Chargers 6 points on missed FGs, a bad throw on an INT, and fumble.
            Prediction:
            Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

That doesn't explain quitting in the second half of games, though. Either that or they are just really out of shape. Seems like the deeper we get into games the weaker the pass rush and the less you even see them in the picture (on TV). And I think everyone knows where I stand on Pagano.

I now think you have to blow this whole coaching staff out. Looks to me like the offense is out there trying bc of loyalty to Rivers. They're just stupid, injured and there's just not enough talent remaining. Barksdale finally showed his true colors. That sequence against Houston was embarrassing, esp at the end of the game when we had a chance. I have no idea why Reich just dumped out of the running game. Gordon started off well and then suddenly it was the Woodhead show. Hell, even Brown had a nice run. Reich is terrible.

Lack of offensive production leaves them on the field too long, and even a brick wall will crumble when that happens.

That's true. I think some of that comes from a complete abandonment of the running game in second halves. You have to try. And no matter what happens Reich will not stick with it, won't even make the attempt. The whole second half is run like some two minute drill, even when we have a lead or are pretty close with lots of time remaining. Reich manages every game like he's running the K-Gun down 35 points.

We win the TOP in most games, so that doesn't always hold true.

Are you looking at the second half stats, or the full game TOP stats?
