Can em all 2 minutes after the last game.

Hire Les Miles (defensive minded) and his staff. Cam Camaran would be back as OC.

    I don't want some retread.

This team will never hire a Defensive minded HC.

At least Miles would fit their main criteria. He will be recieving a huge severence check from his previous employer, so he might have come cheap.

Not sure if he's worth the #1 pick?

Maybe trade down (still top 10) and pick up another couple picks from some desperate team.

Hank Bauer had a reasonable take on this. Basically made the case that since the season is lost, there's really nothing to be gained by making a coaching change right now. He said, they dug this hole, give them the opportunity to dig themselves out of it. When the season ends, any changes that should be made can be done then, and there is no opportunity lost here by keeping this staff in place for the remainder of the season.

but, the only way they can dig out of the hole is by leaving it all in Rivers' hands the rest of the way which means Gordon/OL won't get the touches or reps to get better at running, and Rivers' will get beat to a pulp trying to carry the entire team on his own.

Dumping the coaches now would be like dumping Buddy Black for an interim. It won't accomplish a thing, except to make an escapegoat.

Nolan has been a Heach Coach before so he could do ok as Interim. Reich or Pagano fills in as interim would A) look like an undeserved promotion and B) One of them could squeak out 2 or 3 wins late and Spanos could be tempted to make the interim permanent. Changes need to be made and not just coaching staff, cut a player or two, Dallas just cut two players for violating the dress code ffs. If you don't invite excellence and commitment don't be surprised when only mediocrity shows up to dinner

Going with a interim HC is not going to do much. Often you get people to focus for the next game, then they slide back into their old (losing) habits. The only time it makes sense is if we had a guy on the coaching staff who we wanted to give an audition to as a HC. Nolan was a failure as HC in SF, so unless someone wants to see him as a potential HC, it doesn't make sense to leave the staff shorthanded just to give everyone the warm fuzzies. You can't really fix anything of importance at this point.

Going with an interim coach likely will effect little on the field but leaving a failed leader in place corrodes the workplace. Somebody needs to be held accountable. Nobody is at fault for this train wreck? Of course someone's at fault but no one has made any changes. This team will be somewhere between a 2-4 game winner regardless of who the coach for the next 6 games is.

The culture in this organisation is softness and it's showing on the field. This team has become a cushy retirement gig. Players give one or two good years get a fat check and start mailing it in and not just free agent signings either. Does it happen on other teams?, sure but you don't see it happen a whole lot on teams like the Patriots, Cowboys, Green Bay, Steelers. Why does it happen so much here but not those teams? Because it's not acceptable within that teams culture.
