Now, let's see who wins the battle of lame coaches incapable of making useful second half adjustments.

Too many short passes. It is as simple as that. We call so many series of downs that require a third down conversion. It is simple mathematics. We are not going to convert them all. This also makes us have to get more first downs to score because we are just barely getting 10 yards on three plays.

The strategy is all wrong and, with an assist from a stupid approach from Staley, is why we lose games. Lombardi's misuse of our offensive talent, especially Herbert, is nothing short of criminal. The fact that our coaches and GM are apparently too stupid to understand that we absolutely must have multiple speedy WRs on the roster to leverage Herbert's talent in the deep passing game is also criminal.

As great as Herbert is, it would be impossible for him to overcome Lombardi's incompetence and the incompetence of the team in not having speedy WRs anywhere on the roster.

Rivers is getting hit even on the short passes so going deep does not seem conducive to Herbert’s health.

Really poor game. No flow, penalties galore. So many defensive breakdowns on 3rd down.
