I truly wonder why our passing isn't setting up our runs better.

Why lay back when you can stack the box and defend against the run and the short pass that you know will be 95% of the passes thrown? Passing game only opens up the running game if the opposing defense feels threatened by the passes thrown. That is not a feature of our offense.
